The “Sankofa” is a metaphorical symbol used by the Akan people of Ghana, generally depicted as a bird with its head turned backward taking an egg from its back. It expresses the importance of reaching back to knowledge gained in the past and bringing it into the present in order to make positive progress.  What poem or speech inspires you to reflect on your history and helps to provide direction for your successful future?

At George Melcher Elementary, our focus is the total child. We are committed to providing a quality education to all students by incorporating programs designed to strengthen the physical and emotional well-being of every student. Our School Advisory Committee hosts activities and events throughout the school year.

Uniforms

Solid white or navy blue short or long-sleeved shirt (must have a collar or turtleneck). Tan (khaki) or navy blue pants, skirt, jumper, or shorts. No denim is allowed.

9:15 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.
